    • Name – child’s name – one interesting fact about yourself or families’ pump up song
  • October 19th  Chowder Day
    • Scholastic event, jump house, face painting, sporting events, food – please sign up to volunteer
    • Holiday Tea – Thursday, Dec. 19 Please sign in and sign up for Holiday Tea
      • Will have a sign-up genius
      • Events like these are paid by the family fees $75 (per family) - Holiday Tea, Teacher appreciation week, back to school BBQ
        • Holiday gift email to the lower school’s parent coordinators
        • We need a chair for teacher appreciation week, the first week of May - Class gift, chalk the walk, gift cards, lunch for teachers and staff, etc.
 
  1. Head of School Report- Kevin Folan
  • Every year we carve out a theme to guide us: curiosity
    • Will touch on in all 3 divisions
    • Keep all ages engaged 4-18years
    • What does curiosity look like in our lives?
    • PCD is establishing an ongoing relationship with Save the Bay – will include in school presentations and field trips
  • Announcements:
    • Downtown 5k and Back to school BBQ were a big success
    • Great series of Back to School Nights for parents and guardians
    • 117 middle schoolers off campus Wednesday for Nature’s Classroom in MA – they return Friday - Is always a big success and team builder.
    • Not afraid to take on the hard stuff: elections / smart phones
    • Seeking input from all parents and guardians as the use of smart phones in school is explored.
 
September:
    • September 25th – Smart Phone task force conversation
    •               Working with teachers and parents
    •               Have the school be leaders in community
    • September 27th phone free
 
October
    • October 1st.  book discussion on Anxious Generation / Flu vaccine day
    • October  7th-11th phone free week
 
  1. Upper School Harvest Dance - November 9 at PCD
 
  1. Development Update-Mark McLaughlin
 
    • Class Mark is teaching seniors – campaigns 2024
      • Taking a fact based approach
      • Meeting with Office Holders and those who have sought offices
      • Monday went to the state house – to meet with Sec. of State Gregg Amore
        1. Great for kids to see non-partisan work
      • Works closely with events
      • Annual Parent October Challenge – asking parents to donate to the school
        1. We Track progress
        2. $10,000 matching gifts from alumni and supporters
      • Friday night, October 18th is alumni dinner with beer garden at PCD
      • Saturday, October 19th Chowder Day - all are welcome
    • Knights at Night
      • Series of social events open to current family members, teachers, alum and friends of PCD
      • The end of August Knights at Night was held at the Hot Club
      • The next event is Bellini’s on Dec. 10th
    • Play for PCD Golf Event
      • Large fundraiser
      • Community event in the spring
      • Dinner and auction in the evening, historically held on a Monday night after a day of golf
        1. This year’s event:
          1. May 3rd (Saturday) -  Dinner and auction at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford
          2. Golf event will happen following Monday May 5
  
  1. Admissions Update- Melanie Parsons
    • 390 total kids on campus
    • November 2nd – fall open house
    • The best way families find out about the school is for current families to spread the word – pick up open house lawn signs from the PCD grounds – no need to ask, just take and put up in your yards
 
  1. Holiday Tea – Chaired by Bethany Sutton and Lori Kooloian
    • Need volunteers
    • Emily Howe and Sarah Bouvier are the rising chairs
 
  1. Questions / Closing
    • Melissa – parent socials - Have used the Hot Club and The Guild in the past - The class coordinators to organize it in the fall
  2. Next meeting
    • November 12th @ 8:15 a.m. in Chace Dining Hall
